The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Presidential candidate, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has assured supporters that the next NDC administration will prioritize completing all abandoned cocoa road projects.
Speaking at a rally in Datano, located in the Bodi Constituency, as part of her three-day campaign tour of the Western North Region, she expressed her dismay over the current government's neglect of these critical infrastructure projects.
During her address, Prof Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the government's failure to make its report on cocoa road projects public, emphasizing that the administration had previously accused the Mr Mahama government of negligence.
She called on the electorate to recognize the importance of these roads for the cocoa industry and the livelihoods of farmers in the region.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang encouraged attendees not to lose hope, assuring them that the NDC would revive and continue the cocoa road projects that have been left unattended.
In addition to addressing road infrastructure, Prof Opoku-Agyemang outlined plans to reintroduce a free fertilizer program to support cocoa farmers.
She also committed to ensuring that farmers receive fair and adequate prices for their cocoa produce, thereby enhancing their livelihoods and promoting the growth of the cocoa sector.
Concluding her speech, Prof Opoku-Agyemang urged voters to rally behind John Dramani Mahama and the NDC parliamentary candidates in the upcoming December elections.
She emphasised that a united and strong NDC government would be essential in restoring the cocoa industry's integrity and ensuring the development of critical infrastructure in the region.
