Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has reminded the Electoral Commission (EC) to fulfill its promise of releasing the voter’s register to political parties.
This follows last Tuesday's Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting, where the EC assured that the register would be made available by today, October 8, 2024.
According to Dr. Boamah, the release of the voter’s register is critical for transparency and fairness ahead of the upcoming 2024 general elections.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, he emphasised that timely access to the register will allow political parties to verify voter data and address any discrepancies before the elections.
The NDC Elections Director stressed that the failure to meet this deadline would create unnecessary tension and mistrust in the electoral process.
He called on the EC to ensure they meet their commitment and maintain the integrity of the election timeline.
Dr. Boamah also urged the EC to improve communication with political parties and key stakeholders to avoid delays and misunderstandings in the lead-up to the December 7 elections.
