Basake Holy Stars continued to make waves in the Ghana Premier League with an impressive 2-2 draw against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park on Sunday.
The newly promoted side showed remarkable resilience, picking up a crucial point against a well-established Chelsea team on their own turf.
Emmanuel Sarpong opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 45th minute, sending the home crowd into celebration just before half-time.
However, Holy Stars were quick to respond in the second half, with Stephen Awuah Baffour netting the equaliser, bringing the game level.
The visitors then stunned the home fans further when Daouda Ben Sedibe struck, putting Holy Stars ahead at 2-1.
Chelsea, determined not to let the points slip, pressed hard in the final moments of the match. Their persistence paid off as Stephen Amankona found the net on the stroke of full time, ensuring a share of the spoils in an enthralling contest.
For Holy Stars, this draw was a statement of their intent and resilience in the Premier League, while Chelsea were left to rue missed opportunities as they aim to stay competitive in the league.
