The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has underscored the Akufo-Addo administration’s accomplishments in job creation, asserting that the administration has created more jobs than any previous government.
He pointed to data from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and other sources, which he said indicates that around 2.6 million jobs have been generated under this administration.
According to Dr. Bawumia, approximately 1.4 million of these jobs are in the private sector, while 1.2 million have been created within the public sector.
He emphasised that this job creation milestone is a testament to the government’s efforts to bolster Ghana’s economy and enhance opportunities for its citizens.
While acknowledging the economic challenges currently facing the country, Dr. Bawumia reassured Ghanaians that he remains dedicated to further expanding job opportunities.
Speaking at a youth engagement programme on Sunday, November 3, he stated that, if elected in the upcoming December elections, he would prioritise policies to continue creating jobs for the Ghanaian people.
“We have done a remarkable job in creating jobs in the last seven years, indeed so far, as of yesterday or a day before…I checked the data from SSNIT and other sources and so far, between 2017 and 2024, the latest data is that we have created 2.6 million jobs."
“1.4 in the private sector and 1.2 in the public sector. This is the highest of any government in the 4th Republic and the highest job creation. We have more to do because we still have high unemployment. Our youth still need jobs,” he said.
