Ghanaian defender Abdul Baba Rahman has expressed optimism about the Black Stars’ chances of securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The POAK left-back, who recently took a break from international duties due to fitness concerns, believes the team has the talent and potential to succeed despite recent challenges.
"I honestly think the guys have been a bit unlucky recently," Rahman told the BBC.
"We [Ghana] have some really, really exciting young players in terms of what they can do on the ball and off the ball. We have good prospects too. I still have confidence in them."
The Black Stars currently sit level on points with Comoros at the top of Group I in the World Cup qualifiers after four games, keeping their hopes alive for another appearance on the global stage.
Having featured in Qatar in 2022, Rahman remains hopeful for a return to the World Cup, set to take place in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
"Of course, I think about playing in another World Cup, and I think Ghana is on the right path to qualify," he said.
Before continuing their World Cup qualifying campaign, the Black Stars will shift focus to their next AFCON qualifier, when they play Angola in Luanda, followed by a home clash against Niger.
