The 2024 flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has criticised the eight-year reign of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming that it has led to significant setbacks for Ghana.
He pointed to the country’s current economic challenges and widespread hardships as evidence of what he described as the NPP government’s poor management of national resources.
Speaking at a mini-rally in Kyebi in the Abuakwa South Constituency of the Eastern Region, Mahama attributed the nation’s difficulties to the mismanagement of the economy by the ruling government.
He emphasised that the NPP’s inability to effectively address these issues has led to widespread suffering among Ghanaians.
As part of his five-day campaign tour of the Eastern region, Mahama urged the people of Kyebi to reject the NPP’s promises for the future.
He called on them to recognise the failures of the current administration and consider an alternative path for the country’s progress.
The former president stressed the importance of a change in government to ensure the country’s economic recovery and improved welfare for all Ghanaians.
“Ghanaians have seen the consequences of misplaced priorities and poor leadership. It’s time for a change that truly prioritizes the people."
“The NPP government’s performance over the past eight years has been one of retrogression. Life was easier under the NDC government compared to today."
“Money that could buy a meal during the NDC administration cannot get you the same meal now. Things have been tough under the NPP government," he asserted.
