The Ghana Police Service has commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and their supporters for their cooperation and commitment to peace during the final political rallies held in Accra on Thursday, December 5.
The police acknowledged that the events, which were marked by large gatherings, were successfully conducted without any incident, thanks to the collaboration of all involved.
In a statement, the Police expressed gratitude to both political parties for maintaining peace, before and during the rallies.
The service also extended its gratitude to the general public, especially the motoring public, for their patience and understanding during road diversions and traffic blockades implemented to facilitate the safe management of the events.
The Police leadership commended the professionalism and dedication of officers who were deployed to maintain law, order, and security during these special events. "The peaceful and successful conclusion of the rallies is a testament to the hard work and vigilance of our officers," the statement read.
As Ghana prepares for the national elections on December 7, 2024, the Police reiterated their call for all political parties, their supporters, and the public to uphold the same level of discipline, unity, and patriotism. "We urge all stakeholders to maintain peace, order, and national cohesion for a peaceful election," the Ghana Police Service stated.
The police reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safe, peaceful, and orderly electoral process. “We are dedicated to maintaining the security and integrity of the election process,” they concluded. The Police Service is on high alert to manage any potential challenges as the country heads into the final stages of its presidential and parliamentary elections.
