Some individuals believed to be scrap dealers took advantage of the aftermath of the devastating fire outbreak at Kantamanto in Accra on Thursday morning, to make some money for themselves.

The blaze, which started at dawn, caused extensive damage, with traders scrambling to salvage the remains of their goods as the flames rapidly spread.
Over 100 shops were completely destroyed, leaving traders devastated.

Several people were observed removing metal items and others from the affected shops, ostensibly with the intent to sell them for profit amid the crisis.

These individuals reportedly collected the hot metals from the debris without any protective gear, exposing themselves to potential injury according to Joy News' Collins Frimpong.

Some traders are alleging that the incident may be a case of arson. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has stated that it is investigating the cause of the fire.

Owners of the affected shops are calling on the government for immediate support.
Although some are focused on rebuilding their businesses, others are calling on authorities to investigate the cause and enhance market safety measures.
