Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan Ghana’s failure to win a major tournament, on the conduct of some unnamed ‘’evil’’ individuals.
In an Instagram Live session that has since gone viral, Gyan the subject of his time with the Black Stars dominated the conversation.
What started as a light-hearted conversation with his followers on the micro-blogging sight, soon transmogrified into a tell-it-all session.
“There are evil people in this country; That’s is why we can’t win anything because of these people. They have tarnished Ghana’s reputation with dirt,’’ Gyan said.
Ghana has not won the AFCON in forty-three years and will not be at the next tournament in Morocco this year.
Although Gyan stopped short of putting names to his accusation, his subsequent comments gave an insight into where some of these personalities may come from.
“They used my popularity as a political tactic to get my fans to vote for them.”
Here, Gyan was referring to the New Patriotic Party and the Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia campaign team who enlisted him as chairman of the youth and sports sub-committee for the manifesto committee.
Six months after working for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, Gyan announced his decision to step down.
Instead, Gyan announced plans to provide Ghanaian youth with opportunities through sports academies, training centers, and mentorship programs through the Asamoah Gyan Foundation.
