Asante Kotoko defender Emmanuel Kotei is set to miss the rest of the 2024/25 season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The club confirmed the fears of the player on Tuesday, January 14, following the incident on Thursday, January, 9, 2025. The incident happened during the club's training session.
The club's medical team carried tests on the player before coming out with the results which sees him sidelined until next season.
"Asante Kotoko can confirm that right-back Emmanuel Kotei's season has painfully come to an end after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury," a statement from the club read.
"The incident occurred during the team's Thursday training session and following a series of tests carried out on Kotei by our Medical Team, the right-back was diagnosed with a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament with involvement of both meniscus in his right leg. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days."
Kotei has managed four appearances for the club this season in the Ghana Premier League with Kotoko currently sitting sixth on the league table.
