The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially launched investigations into an alleged embezzlement of GH¢1.3 billion from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
During a press conference on February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng announced that the inquiry will focus on suspected corruption and related offenses involving funds misappropriated from the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund (UPPF).
This fund is intended to stabilize petroleum prices across the country. Agyebeng noted that the investigation is primarily aimed at four individuals, including Jacob Amoah, the Coordinator of the UPPF; Wendy Ashong Newman; Freda Tandoh; and the former NPA CEO, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid.
“The OSP has commenced investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses in respect of an alleged embezzlement of GH¢1.3 billion from the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund (UPPF) at the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
“The investigation primarily targets the following persons: the coordinator of the UPPF, Jacob Amoah; NPA staff Wendy Ashong Newman; NPA staff Freda Tandoh; and a former Chief Executive of the NPA, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid,” he said.
