The Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, Simone Giger, on Wednesday, 19th February, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Energy, John Abdulai Jinapor, to discuss areas of mutual cooperation in the energy sector.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Energy, focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and Switzerland, particularly in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable development.
During the discussions, Minister Jinapor emphasised Ghana’s commitment to diversifying its energy mix and improving access to clean and affordable energy.

He highlighted the government's efforts in promoting renewable energy sources, including solar and hydroelectric power, to enhance energy security and reduce carbon emissions. "
We are keen on leveraging strategic partnerships to develop a robust and sustainable energy sector. Switzerland’s expertise and investment in renewable energy solutions present great opportunities for collaboration," he stated.
Ambassador Giger commended Ghana’s strides in the energy sector and reaffirmed Switzerland’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability.
She expressed optimism about strengthening Swiss-Ghanaian relations, particularly in areas that align with Ghana’s energy transition agenda.
"Switzerland recognises Ghana as a key partner in West Africa, and we look forward to working together on projects that will promote clean energy and drive economic growth," she remarked.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their commitment to exploring joint initiatives that will drive innovation and sustainable development in the energy sector.
Minister Jinapor reiterated the government’s openness to partnerships that will ensure a reliable and resilient energy supply for all Ghanaians.
