Accra Hearts of Oak moved top of the Ghana Premier League with a 2-0 win over Young Apostles as the competition resumed on Saturday.
New signing Michael Awuah Mensah opened the scoring with a powerful header from Hussein Mohammed's corner kick on the cusp of half time.
Hearts doubled their advantage in the second half when Hamza Issah's header deflected off Abdul Rahman Rurf just after the restart.
Hearts are now top of the league with 36 points, ahead of Gold Stars (34) and Asante Kotoko (34) who both play Nations FC and Legon Cities respectively on Sunday.
The Ghana Premier League was suspended for five weeks following the fatal stabbing of Francis "Nana Pooley" Frimpong at Kotoko's match away to Nsoatreman F.C.
Pooley, who was a life-long supporter of Asante Kotoko, was since buried on March 6, 2025.
Before its resumption, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced enhanced matchday protocols, ostensibly to tighten existing protocols.
Last week the Ghana Police Service also announced regional safety and security officers as part of measures to improve security at football matches.
