Cameroon FA President Samuel Eto’o has been elected as a CAF Executive Committee member at the 14th Extraordinary General Assembly on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt.
The former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker joins the body charged with decision-making in African football for the next four years (2025-29).
Eto’o had faced a stumbling block in his bid to contest for the position following CAF’s Governance Committee decision to deem him ineligible.
However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled in the 44-year-old's favor, allowing him to be part of the election.
Meanwhile, Patrice Motsepe has also been re-elected as CAF’s president and will lead the continent's football body until 2029.
