Executive Vice President of the African Table Tennis Federation, Mawuko Afadzinu, is calling for a "clear policy" from the government to promote recreation in the country.
Ghana's President, John Mahama, renamed the Youth and Sports Ministry to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.
The initiative aims to instill sporting values among non-professional Ghanaians.
Speaking at the JoySports National Dialogue, Mawuko urged the Ministry to develop a policy to ensure the realisation of recreation.
"It is about being deliberate and supporting it with clear policy and ensuring that across the country, in all the different pocket of opportunity, we do what is required," Mawuko said.
"Not too long ago, even at the level of the corporate organizations, there were very active and vibrant inter-company competitions that were going on.
"We get this one right, [and] it has a knock-on effect on the quality of sports development in this country."
Afadzinu was part of the speakers for the JoySports National Dialogue with others including Tom Vernon, Anthony Baffoe, Magnus RexDanquah, Bawa Fuseini and Farida Iddriss.
The dialogue is a thought-leadership program focused on shaping the future of Ghana sports.
