The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for unlawfully possessing and discharging firearms in the region.
The arrest follows the circulation of a viral video showing a group of individuals holding and firing weapons during a funeral in Attakrom, near Bibiani, on March 14.
In the video, the young men are seen discharging their firearms.
According to the Police Command, an investigation was promptly launched to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible for the illegal possession of firearms.

In a press statement announcing the arrest of the two individuals captured in the video, the head of the Police Public Affairs Unit in the region, DSP Michael Nkekesi, revealed that the Police Intelligence Department, with support from the Formed Police Unit (FPU), apprehended the suspects on Wednesday, April 2.
He confirmed that the two suspects had already confessed to their involvement in the incident. The police are now on a manhunt for the remaining perpetrators.
DSP Nkekesi has urged the public to assist in the capture of the other suspects while assuring the community that the police are working diligently to maintain safety and security in the area.
