Basake Holy Stars finally broke their losing streak with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea at Crosby Awuah Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, the match came to life in the second period, with all three goals scored.
After losing three consecutive league defeats, the victory was Holy Stars' first league win of the year, after losing five games in eight matches.
Coach Abdulai Gazale's side capitalized on their chances in the second half, securing vital three points that push them further away from the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Berekum Chelsea suffered back-to-back losses, moving to 10th place in the league table.
This win lifts Holy Stars to 12th, seven points clear of the drop zone, and provides some breathing room amidst a tight relegation battle.
With Vision FC, Karela United, and Young Apostles also dropping points, Holy Stars' victory offers a glimmer of hope for survival.
It was a much-needed win for Holy Stars, who had struggled in recent weeks, and they will look to build on this performance in the upcoming fixtures.
