Heart of Lions continued their impressive run of form with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over struggling Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday.
The Kpando-based side entered the fixture on the back of two consecutive wins and were determined to extend their winning streak.
After a tightly contested opening half, forward Christian Boateng broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, slotting home to give his side the lead heading into halftime.
Legon Cities, who have endured a difficult season, pushed hard to find an equalizer but were repeatedly thwarted by Heart of Lions’ resolute defense. Despite their efforts, the home side was unable to penetrate the visitors’ backline.
Boateng’s first-half strike ultimately proved decisive, securing all three points for Heart of Lions and keeping their title aspirations alive.
The victory sees them climb to third place on the league table with 50 points, just three points adrift of league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.
Heart of Lions will now look to claim a fourth consecutive win when they welcome defending champions Samartex to Kpando.
Meanwhile, relegation-threatened Legon Cities will hope to turn their fortunes around when they travel to face Bechem United in their next fixture.
