The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has congratulated Mr Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku on his appointment as the 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
In a statement, Adams, on behalf of the Ministry and the entire Ghanaian sporting fraternity, described Mr Okraku's appointment as a "historic" achievement and a proud moment for Ghana.
He praised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President’s dedication, leadership, and relentless commitment to the growth of football both nationally and across the African continent.
"This prestigious appointment is not only a personal milestone but also a powerful recognition of your dedication to football development," he said.
"Your new role offers Ghana an enhanced voice and a stronger platform in continental football governance."
The Minister noted that Mr Okraku’s leadership will inspire a new generation of Ghanaian and African sports leaders to aspire to excellence and global influence.
He also commended Mr Okraku for his visionary initiatives, including the "Catch Them Young" refereeing project, the establishment of zonal football academies, and grassroots talent identification efforts, all of which have laid a strong foundation for the future of Ghanaian football.
Hon. Adams expressed hope that Mr Okraku’s new chapter at CAF would bring even greater opportunities to deepen the renewal of the domestic game, revitalise the Ghana Premier League, empower women's football, and nurture young talents across the country.
He pledged the Ministry’s full support as Mr Okraku works with stakeholders to uplift African football to new heights and restore Ghana’s prominence in the global football community.
"Congratulations once again, Mr. President. We are proud of you and wish you every success in this distinguished role," he Adams concluded.
