When Ghana needed a spark, Emmanuel Mensah delivered.
The dynamic midfielder rose to the occasion in Ghana’s crucial 1-0 victory over reigning champions Senegal in their second Group C match at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
In just the 15th minute, Mensah made his mark, latching onto a precise pass from Jerry Afriyie and finishing with composure beyond his years. It was a goal that not only secured three points but also signaled his growing influence in the tournament.
But Mensah's impact stretched far beyond the scoresheet. He bossed the midfield with maturity, breaking up play, controlling possession, and driving the team forward. His all-round display anchored Ghana’s game plan and kept the highly rated Senegalese side at bay.
After a frustrating draw in their opening match against DR Congo, Ghana’s young talents needed a leader. On Monday night, Mensah was exactly that.
With the win, the Black Satellites move joint-top of Group C with four points, ahead of their final group clash against Central African Republic on Thursday.
