The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially scheduled the 2025 Champion of Champions match for Sunday, August 31, 2025, marking the ceremonial kickoff of the 2025-26 Ghana Premier League season.
The one-off fixture, in accordance with Article 9 of the Premier League Regulations, will see reigning Premier League champions Gold Stars face off against MTN FA Cup holders Asante Kotoko, as they vie for early-season supremacy and silverware.
Gold Stars secured their maiden top-flight title while Kotoko added to their illustrious history by clinching the MTN FA Cup, thereby booking their place in this prestigious fixture.
The Champion of Champions match serves as the traditional curtain-raiser to the Ghanaian football season, offering fans an exciting preview of the competition and intensity the new season is set to bring.
Last year, FC Samartex 1996 defeated Nsoatreman FC 1-0 at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa to lift the 2024 Champion of Champions trophy.
