The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced that the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season will commence on the weekend of September 12, 2025, and conclude on the weekend of May 23/24, 2026.
This timeline has been strategically aligned with the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup, scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, ensuring that all elite domestic competitions will be completed before the global tournament begins.
According to the GFA, the league calendar reflects its commitment to adhering to the FIFA calendar and maintaining the integrity and competitiveness of the domestic league structure.
Ahead of the season's start, the GFA's Ordinary Congress is scheduled for August 12, 2025.
Premier League matches will continue to be played on Sundays, with midweek slots allocated for outstanding fixtures, following the same format as the previous 2024/25 season.
The player registration window for the 2025/26 campaign will open on Monday, June 23, and close on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in accordance with GFA regulations that require registration to be completed before the start of each football season.
This season will see Bibiani Gold Stars SC begin their title defence, while newly promoted clubs Techiman Eleven Wonders FC, Swedru All Blacks United FC, and Hohoe United FC will join the top flight after qualifying from the Access Bank Division One League.
The GFA says the early announcement of the season's schedule is aimed at giving clubs and stakeholders ample time to prepare adequately for what promises to be a competitive and well-coordinated campaign.
