Ghana's Black Queens have advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they will face host nation Morocco.
The Queens secured their spot after a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Algeria in the quarterfinals, with goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan emerging as the hero by saving two penalties.
This marks Ghana’s first semifinal appearance since 2016 under head coach Kim Lars Björkegren. To reach the final, they must overcome a formidable Moroccan side—last year’s runners-up—who are aiming for a second consecutive final berth.
A victory would see Ghana return to the WAFCON final for the first time since 2006.
