Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior, has expressed his profound sorrow over the tragic killing of Naa Abdul-Malik Azenbe, the Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased was also Chief of the Kaadi Divisional Area in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region.
In a Facebook post by the Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase, he extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the Kusasi community in the Ashanti Region, and the wider traditional leadership of the Kusaug area.
He described the murder as a “heinous act” and “an attack on a revered traditional authority,” noting that it strikes at the heart of the peace and security cherished by all Ghanaians.
“I want to assure the family and the people of Ghana that our security agencies are fully committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this crime are swiftly apprehended and made to face the full rigours of the law,” he stated.
The Interior Minister also called on residents of Asawase and the surrounding communities to remain calm and cooperate fully with security agencies by sharing any information that could assist in ongoing investigations.
He prayed for eternal rest for the late Chief and strength for his family and community during this difficult time, urging unity and calm in the wake of the tragedy.
“Let us all stand together to ensure that justice is served and that peace continues to prevail in our beloved constituency and nation,” the Minister added.
Naa Abdul-Malik Azenbe was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen at his residence near the Asawase F-Line Community Centre on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
Police investigations are currently underway.
