Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, has revealed that members of the Black Stars technical team are paid only half of the winning bonuses allocated to players, with the remainder dependent on the team’s qualification for major tournaments.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, Mr. Adams explained that the arrangement was designed to motivate the team while ensuring accountability in the use of state funds.
“The Black Stars technical team members are paid half of the winning bonuses given to players,” he said.
“If the team qualifies for a major tournament, the remaining 50% will be paid. If they fail, they forfeit the money,” he added.
The Minister was addressing the media on expenditure related to Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
The Black Stars have left for N’Djamena to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4, before returning home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8.
