Former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue, has endorsed New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong, describing him as the type of pragmatic and compassionate leader Ghana needs to achieve true transformation.
Speaking on Citi FM on Thursday, September 11, Mr Bissue said Mr Agyapong’s business background and strong grassroots appeal set him apart as a candidate capable of addressing Ghana’s economic difficulties and reducing the country’s reliance on international lenders such as the IMF and World Bank.
“I trust Kennedy Agyapong because he is driven by empathy and compassion. For too long, politics in Ghana has been about theories which in the end push http://junoon.riphahfsd.edu.pk/ us towards the IMF or World Bank. Those are matters we should have dealt with ourselves,” he argued.
He criticised Ghana’s continued dependence on imports despite its rich natural resource base, stressing the need to shift towards industrialisation and value addition.
“With the resources we have, Ghana should be exporting finished products. Instead, we remain overly dependent on imports,” he said.
According to him, Mr Agyapong’s entrepreneurial record, coupled with his strong bond with ordinary Ghanaians, makes him a formidable contender who resonates with the electorate.
“From what I see, many Ghanaians are saying, ‘give us Kennedy, and we will vote for him,’” he added.
