Ranking Member of Parliament’s Information and Communications Committee, Mathew Nyindam, has said the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, is bringing the ministry into disrepute through his actions and performance since assuming office.
He said the minister has so far disgraced the ministry following his handling of issues since he became the sector minister. "His Excellency John Dramani Mahama should re-look at him again because he is actually disgracing his communications ministry," he said on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Wednesday.
He argued that since Mr George’s appointment by the President, he has failed to deliver on the promises he made, particularly in areas such as data package reforms and broadcasting regulation.
"Since Sam started his ministry, he has never produced any results. Go back to the days when we were talking about the price of data. Sam promised us that he was going to make sure that the data is cheaper. What did he come up with? He came up under the cover that he is coming up with repackaging and enhancement; it is only God who knows what he meant by repackaging and enhancing."
According to him, the minister has goofed on several fronts, with the DStv issue being the latest example of what he sees as a pattern of missteps. "The DSTv themselves have come up to clarify one or two things, and who do you want us to believe? You think we should believe in Sam or in DSTV?" he asked.
