The Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund and her team on Thursday paid a working visit to the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), where they were warmly received by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, and his management team.
The visit centred on exploring a strategic partnership between both institutions aimed at addressing critical national health challenges, including the alarming rise in diabetes cases.
During discussions, Mr Tameklo revealed that the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital had recorded over 5,000 new diabetes cases within the past eight months — a development he described as a “clear sign of the urgency to act.”

He emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts between the public and private sector to curb the growing health crisis and promote preventive healthcare nationwide.
Mr Tameklo reaffirmed the NPA’s commitment to partnering with the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, indicating that the Authority would identify a key project to support, subject to Board approval.

“We are confident about what this collaboration can achieve for the health and wellbeing of our people,” he stated, expressing optimism about the long-term benefits of the partnership.
The NPA CEO underscored the enduring nature of the initiative, describing it as an act of selfless service.
“Only a good man plants a tree whose shade he will never sit under. This is what the Ghana Medical Trust Fund is about — a legacy to be the oak tree under which every Ghanaian will one day sit. Through this Fund, we are reminded that truly, Mahama cares,” Mr Tameklo said.
