Heart of Lions head coach, Bashir Hayford, has slammed his players for being “swollen-headed” and said they deserved a “wake-up call” after their defeat to Bibiani GoldStars in week six of the Ghana Premier League.
The Kpando-based club had been on a five-game unbeaten run, including three victories.
However, the Lions suffered their first loss of the campaign, falling 3-1 to the defending champions at Dun’s Park.
"Every Napoleon has got his Waterloo. We had not been beaten in five matches, and today, on somebody's soil, they have beaten us - that is football," Hayford said.
"It is going to be a wake-up call because, after all, some people can also beat us.
“Some of the players are now getting swollen-headed. We are going back, and then we will prepare well for another six matches."
Heart of Lions have now dropped to fourth on the league log and will hope to return to winning ways in their next encounter against Basake Holy Stars at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Friday, October 24.
