Ashanti Regional Police Command has begun a search for the three men who first deposited the body of the late Cheikh Toure at the Ebenezer morgue in Tafo, Kumasi.
Toure, a Senegalese teenager, died in Kumasi last week under circumstances that are now being investigated by the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and African Integration and Ghana’s Inspector General of Police (IGP).
On Monday, the IGP dispatched a team of homicide investigators, forensic experts, and intelligence officers to support the Ashanti Regional Police Command in the investigations.
After three days of investigations, it appears the team has now settled on their first personas of interest and potential suspects: the three individuals who brought the body of the deceased to the morgue.
‘‘We are now looking for these three men, and from the enquiries we made at the hospital, they indicated that the three men who brought the body of the deceased were only speaking in French.’’
Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, also told Sporty FM that the three individuals have become important to the investigation due to inconsistencies in their witness accounts.
‘‘When the deceased was brought in, they found wounds in his lower abdomen and around his neck.
‘‘They were initially alleging that the person was involved in an accident, but later they changed their statement to say that he was attempting suicide inside his own room,’’ he concluded.
