Former Second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia, has begun a campaign tour in the Central Region to rally support for her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the NPP presidential primaries on January 31, 2026.
Starting in the home region of Dr. Bawumia’s main contender, Kennedy Agyapong, the tour is seen as a strategic move to consolidate support and win over undecided delegates. Samira is meeting party executives and grassroots supporters to promote her husband’s vision of economic growth, digital advancement, and inclusive governance.
Known for her eloquence and strong appeal, Samira has been a major force in NPP campaigns since 2012, playing key roles in the party’s 2016 and 2020 victories. Her Central Region tour marks the start of a nationwide campaign, while Dr. Bawumia continues his engagements in the Western Region.
Her efforts are expected to inject renewed energy into the campaign, as she leverages her influence among women and youth to strengthen the Bawumia movement ahead of the crucial primaries.
With about three months to the presidential primaries on January 31, campaign activities have now intensified, with all five candidates currently touring various parts of the country to court the support of delegates.
