Spokesperson for the Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of taking Ghana in the wrong direction.
According to him, the party promised a “reset” but is delivering a “reverse.”
He made the remarks on JoyNews AM Show on Friday, December 12.
“NDC hasn’t reset the country. NDC is reversing the country, that is the truth, and there is a big difference. They promised the Ghanaian people a reset and they are delivering a reverse. That is what is happening,” Aboagye said, emphasising his point about the current economic situation.
He criticised what he described as inconsistencies in the government’s economic policies.
“Is it not strange that we are in a country where inflation has dropped from a whopping 23% to 6% and yet no single price of a good has increased by less than 10%? Is it not strange to you that when you go up Abossey Okai or Tiptoe Lane, every price has gone up, even though the dollar has reduced from ¢14 to ¢10?” he questioned.
Mr Aboagye argued that the contradictory economic approach was failing to improve the financial well-being of ordinary Ghanaians.
“So you see, the government is running a contradictory economic policy system that has no impact in our pocket but only on paper,” he added, highlighting what he called a disconnect between policy achievements and citizens’ lived experiences.
He urged the NDC administration to take urgent steps to ensure that its economic interventions translate into real improvements for Ghanaians, stressing that effective policy should benefit the people, not merely appear successful on official reports.
