Former Abuakwa South MP, Samuel Atta-Akyea, has cast doubt on the presidential credentials of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, describing the outspoken politician as more of a businessman than a suitable candidate for the presidency.
According to him, Mr Agyapong does not possess the qualities required to lead the country, despite his growing prominence within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking on UTV on Wednesday, December 17, Mr Atta-Akyea stated bluntly that he does not regard Mr Agyapong as “presidential material”.
He argued that the Assin Central MP, who is an aspirant in the NPP’s presidential primaries, has built his public image largely around business claims rather than demonstrated statesmanship or governance capacity.
“I don’t see him as a presidential material but a businessman,” Mr Atta-Akyea said during the discussion.
He further questioned the scale of Mr Agyapong’s business success, suggesting that “even the businesses we are told he owns are over exaggerated.”
The NPP goes to the polls in January 2026, to elect a presidential flagbearer, with Kennedy, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong all in the race.
