In a heartening display of national unity and elder statesmanship, President John Dramani Mahama paid a courtesy call on former President John Agyekum Kufuor today, Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
The visit, which took place at the former President’s residence in the serene hills of Peduase, was described as a private engagement intended to extend seasonal greetings and best wishes for the upcoming New Year to the 'Gentle Giant' and his family.
The meeting between the two leaders, who represent the two major traditions of Ghanaian politics, was marked by an atmosphere of warmth and mutual respect.
President Mahama, accompanied by a small delegation of close aides, expressed his admiration for President Kufuor’s enduring commitment to the peace and stability of Ghana.
During the interaction, President Mahama noted that such visits are essential for fostering a sense of national cohesion, especially as the country prepares to transition into 2026.
He wished President Kufuor continued good health and strength, acknowledging his role as a pillar of wisdom for the nation.
Former President Kufuor, in his characteristic statesmanlike manner, welcomed President Mahama and thanked him for the thoughtful gesture.
He reciprocated the goodwill, praying for God’s guidance for the Presidency as it navigates the challenges and opportunities of the coming year.
The discussions, while largely private, touched upon the importance of maintaining the Ghanaian spirit of hospitality and brotherly love—a theme that has dominated several festive messages across the country this month.
