Construction work is progressing steadily on the Todome Kpalime to Tongor-Dzemeni roads, which form part of the major road network in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region.
The project, which is under the government’s Big Push Project, would also involve the rehabilitation of some inner access roads in Dzemeni.
Messrs SANAM Ghana Limited began construction work on the deplorable Tongor-Dzemeni to Todome-Kpalime in late October 2025.
The construction works entail upgrading the Tongor-Dzemeni to Todome-Kpalime roads through Kaira-Kpalime, measuring about 17.7 kilometres.
Some 6.37 kilometres of roads in the Tongor-Dzemeni township would also be upgraded to enhance socio-economic activities.

Earthworks are ongoing unabated, while sides drain, and culverts are also being constructed along the stretch.
The South Dayi District Chief Executive, Courage Kwame Kokroko, anticipates the road network to be completed in June 2026.
“You know our road network is terrible; that is, Todome to Dzemeni has been a major problem for the residents of South Dayi. I believe, when you were coming, you saw the improvement on the road.”
“Our prayer is that by the close of June, July, or thereabout, the contractor should be able to finish with the work so that we will be able to commute between Todome and Dzemeni at ease”, he said.
The South Dayi MP and Majority Chief Whip in parliament, Nelson-Rockson Defeamekpor, believes a better road network would accelerate the area's socioeconomic development, as requested by constituents.
“You have seen that major activity is ongoing, the road infrastructure, and culverts are being done. The contractor assured me that the work will be done by June.
"Our people will be happy, especially when there is improvement in the road network, that is what they asked for”, he said.

Meanwhile, the MP's office organised a health screening exercise for his constituents, primarily the aged, on Saturday, 3rd January, 2025.
This forms part of an agenda to ensure a healthy citizenry to enhance productivity in the South Dayi constituency of the Volta Region.
