The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tamekloe, has announced the establishment of a 24-hour economy steering committee at the Authority to boost operations of the downstream petroleum sector.
Mr Tamekloe said the move is in line with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President John Mahama’s vision for a more dynamic and job-creating economy, the Reset Agenda and 24-Hour Economy initiatives.
"I have constituted a Steering Committee for the 24-hour economy initiative in the petroleum downstream sector, so that we can roll out a plan that ensures that the downstream sector operates 24/7 in line with the vision of the president," he said at the University of Ghana’s 77th Annual New Year School and Conference (ANYSC) on Tuesday, January 6.
He explained that the committee will provide strategic oversight, coordination, and implementation of the 24-hour economy within the sector. "The Steering Committee is to provide oversight, strategic direction, and coordination for the implementation of the 24-hour programme in the downstream," he said.
As chairman of the committee, Mr Tamekloe pledged to ensure smooth operations, emphasising that the core objective is to stimulate job creation and strengthen the sector’s efficiency. "I am leading the process towards both infrastructure issues to ensure the efficient implementation of the 24-hour economy in the downstream."
"What we are interested in is ensure more jobs are created, and the downstream keeps working," he said
