President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has lauded the Mahama administration for what he described as a disciplined and promising start to managing Ghana’s economy.
Speaking on Citi FM on January 10, Mr Cudjoe said the government began its tenure on a positive footing, particularly concerning fiscal discipline.
He observed that the administration’s early economic decisions have helped set a clear direction for policy implementation.
Mr Cudjoe noted that when questions were raised about the basis for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s claims of economic improvement, the explanation offered by the Finance Minister was direct and instructive.
According to him, Dr Ato Forson attributed the progress to a renewed focus on economic discipline.
He explained that this emphasis on prudent management of public finances and adherence to defined economic priorities has distinguished the current administration from previous governments. Mr Cudjoe suggested that the approach has contributed to growing confidence in the economy.
“I think this government, with Ato Forson and the President, started on a good note,” he said. “When the question was asked about what the NDC had done to justify claims of improvement or growth, the answer was simple — the difference is economic discipline.”
