Former Minister for Education and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has pushed back against claims that he is stingy or unwilling to spend money, describing such perceptions as misplaced.
Dr Adutwum says his approach to spending is guided by impact rather than showmanship, insisting that he gives generously where it truly matters.
“People should ask themselves, among all of us contesting, who has personally sponsored the education of 150 children,” he said in an interview with Peace FM.
“I am not chisel. I do spend money, but I do so with purpose. I have helped many people in very meaningful ways.”
He explained that his philosophy of giving focuses on long-term empowerment, particularly through education, rather than distributing cash for political attention.
According to Dr Adutwum, investing in human potential yields far greater returns for society than short-term handouts, adding that his record reflects a deep commitment to improving lives.
The comments come as the NPP gears up for its presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, ahead of the 2028 general elections. Dr Adutwum is among several aspirants seeking the party’s flagbearership.
