Financial institution, National Investment Bank (NIB) has made a donation of GH₵100,000 to the Ghana Sports Fund.
The donation, which was made on Friday, February 13, becomes the first major contribution the fund has received since its introduction earlier this year.
The contribution comes as a huge boost as it shows a seal of approval and confidence in the initiative and its objectives.
The purpose of the fund is to mobilise and manage resources transparently for athlete development, grassroots sport, infrastructure, capacity building, and high-performance preparation.
NIB's donation also positions them as key partners looking to improve the country's sporting sector.
The Ghana Sports Fund, established under Act 1159, is a strategic financing mechanism mandated to mobilise and manage resources for the development of sports across the country.
The Fund is aimed at supporting the construction and maintenance of sports infrastructure, athlete development and welfare, as well as promoting grassroots and youth sports programmes, including Ghana’s participation in regional and international sporting competitions.
