President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called for deeper tourism collaboration between Zimbabwe and Ghana, stressing that visa-free travel and cultural exchanges could significantly drive growth in the sector.
Speaking during bilateral talks with President John Dramani Mahama at Peduase Lodge on Thursday, April 2, 2026, Mr Mnangagwa highlighted the importance of strengthening people-to-people connections as a foundation for economic cooperation.
“Tourism and people-to-people exchanges sparked by visa-free policy can inspire further growth of this sector,” he noted.
He also praised Ghana’s efforts in promoting continental tourism, particularly the African Tourism and Unity Campaign held in August 2025, describing it as a demonstration of what African countries can achieve through collaboration.
He indicated that such initiatives could enhance connectivity across the continent, including links with Zimbabwe.
President Mnangagwa further pointed to Zimbabwe’s rising global profile as a tourist destination and proposed joint tourism packages, including potential partnerships between Victoria Falls and Cape Coast.
He added that Zimbabwe is open to working with Ghana to preserve both tangible and intangible cultural heritage as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties.
