Former National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, says he is confident of winning the National Chairmanship of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr Vanderpuye said his confidence stems from his longstanding commitment to the NDC and years of service to the party.
The former MP and minister described himself as a foundation member of the NDC, saying he had served at various levels, from the grassroots to Parliament, government and the presidency.
“At every time I go on my knees to pray, there is that joy that comes into me, and that gives me the sense of victory. I am sure I’m going to win the NDC chairmanship, no matter what,” he said on WoezorTV on Sunday, August 9, 2026,
Mr Vanderpuye said his decision to contest was motivated by a desire to give back to the party, which he credited with providing him opportunities to serve the country.
He said his decades of involvement in the NDC had sometimes come at the expense of his family but maintained that his commitment to the party remained a lifelong responsibility.
“I’ve done more work in this party than many. I don’t know how many people I can count that have been involved in the development of the party, in the progress of the party, more than me,” he said.
“I think it is time for me to crystallise all those things I’ve done in the background by sitting in a chair now and making sure that the vision we share as a family, the NDC, is articulated the way it should be articulated,” he added.
