Sonrise Christian High School has made history at the NSMQ 2026 National Championship, becoming the first private school to secure qualification to the One-Eighth stage after a commanding performance in the final preliminary-stage contest.

The school emerged victorious at the CNC Auditorium A, finishing with 51 points to beat Nyakrom SHTS and St. Mary's Boys' SHS.

The contest began on a tense note, with all three schools separated by just a point after Round One. St. Mary's Boys' SHS and Sonrise Christian High School both recorded 16 points, while Nyakrom SHTS followed closely with 15.

The speed race in Round Two, however, saw Sonrise Christian High School pull away from the competition. The school increased its tally to 33 points, while St. Mary's Boys' SHS moved to 18 and Nyakrom SHTS struggled on 13.

Sonrise Christian High School also had the edge in the Problem of the Day, scoring 5 out of 10, while Nyakrom SHTS and St. Mary's Boys' SHS managed 3 points each.

The momentum continued in Round Three as Sonrise Christian High School extended its lead to 38 points, with St. Mary's Boys' SHS on 21 and Nyakrom SHTS on 16.

By Round Four, Sonrise Christian High School had opened a commanding gap, reaching 48 points. Nyakrom SHTS moved to 23, while St. Mary's Boys' SHS stood at 25.

Sonrise Christian High School eventually sealed the victory with 51 points, followed by Nyakrom SHTS on 29 and St. Mary's Boys' SHS on 28.

The result secures Sonrise Christian High School a place in the One-Eighth Stage of the NSMQ 2026 National Championship, while also making the school the first private institution to advance to that stage this year.

For Nyakrom SHTS and St. Mary's Boys' SHS, the narrow margins at the start of the contest ultimately gave way to a decisive finish as Sonrise Christian High School turned its early competitiveness into a dominant victory.
