Ghana's 200m runner, Joseph Paul Amoah, has confirmed his participation in the 2023 African Games to be hosted in Accra from March 8-23, 2024.
The 2022 Commonwealth Games 200m bronze medallist is Ghana's former record holder in the event and one of the country's realistic hopes for a medal in the track events.
He anchored Ghana to a gold medal in the men's 4x100m relays at the 2019 African Games in Rabat.
The 27-year-old former Prempeh College student last competed for Ghana at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, where a nasty toe injury thwarted his 200m race.
That injury kept him out for the rest of last year and is currently working his way back to full fitness.
Joe Paul's presence will be a breath of fresh air for team Ghana, where he will also be expected to anchor the men's relay team as they attempt to defend their title from five years ago.
