Newly appointed Technical Director of Asante Kotoko, Abdul Karim Zito will ask the club to hire an additional assistant coach.
Zito was unveiled on Wednesday morning at a press conference as the club's interim head coach and new technical director.
Zito's appointment came with the arrival of former Medeama and Inter Allies coach Prince Owusu as his assistant.
Speaking at the press conference, Zito made the case for a bigger coaching staff.
''It is inly in Ghana that we work with a maximum of seven technical staff. In other countries that visited or went to learn, they always have more,'' he said.
On Tuesday April 22, 2025, Asare Wilson , Asante Kotoko and Abu Imoro formerly left their positions as assistant coaches, following the sacking of their boss, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.
''Immediately after this press conference, I am going to request for one more assistant. I always like to consult with my assistants before making substitutions. When on the touchline, I would turn to them and discuss to the choice of substitute and other adjustments with them before going ahead,'' Zito concluded.
Zito's appointment marks his return to the club he once served as an assistant coach 18 years ago.
During his playing days, he won five league titles, two FA Cups, and the CAF Champions League in 1982 with Asante Kotoko.
