The leadership of the Assemblies of God has revealed an ambitious array of projects and initiatives set to unfold later this year.
The unveiled plans encompass a wide spectrum, aiming not only to fortify the spiritual foundations of the church but also to contribute significantly to the welfare of society at large.
First on the docket is the construction of a "legacy temple," dedicated to the meticulous creation of sponsored temples. This project stands as a testament to the commitment to preserving cultural and spiritual heritage. The leadership emphasized that these sacred spaces would serve as focal points for spiritual growth and communal harmony.
In a bid to address the financial challenges faced by rural and urban pastors, General Superintendent of the Church, Rev. Dr. Stephen Wengam said, the Mission Samaritan Fund will be introduced.
This initiative seeks to provide support to pastors who dedicate their lives to serving their communities but often face financial constraints. It is a step towards ensuring that these spiritual leaders can continue their important work with dignity.
The Church is also turning its gaze towards infrastructure development with a promise to establish convention centers in every town, village, a church project. The jewel in the crown, however, is the announcement of the "Centenary City Project."
This visionary endeavor will see the creation of a state-of-the-art international convention center equipped with top-notch accommodations and facilities. It is poised to become a hub for international events, fostering collaboration and exchange of ideas.
“Later this year, we will launch the following projects; legacy temple for construction of sponsored temples, mission Samaritan fund to support rural pastors and urban pastors who do not earn decent salaries. Every town, every village - a church project, and the centenary city projects. This will be a state of the art international convention center with accommodation and other facilities,” Rev Dr. Wengam said.
He was speaking at the 9th Regional Council Meeting and ordination 28 ministers of the church from Ashanti West at Kwadaso Great Chapel in Greater Kumasi.
A key highlight of the upcoming events is the "Senders' Summit," a groundbreaking initiative focusing on mission, growth, and church planting programs. The summit aims to empower and equip individuals with the tools needed to spread the message of faith effectively.
“We will rule out capacity building events including the first senders’ summit which is a mission, growth and church planting programs.”
The spiritual calendar is further enriched with the declaration of a "National Prayer Warriors' Conference." This gathering is not only a capacity-building event but also a dedicated time for spiritual warfare and intercession for the church and the nation.
In a bid to uphold moral standards within the clergy, the organization will introduce the "Ministers' Code of Ethics" and a comprehensive "Family Life Manual and Policy." These initiatives underscore the commitment to fostering discipline and compliance with organizational principles.
The leadership is keen on academic excellence, as evidenced by the forthcoming release of a list of recommended academic institutions whose degrees will be recognized by the church. This move is aimed at ensuring that the clergy is equipped with the best education to carry out their divine responsibilities.
In a continuation of a tradition, the General Superintendent and his wife are set to embark on the second leg of the apostolic visit. The organization is banking on the support of its members to replicate the success of the maiden visit, highlighting the proverb, "one hand cannot embrace a baobab tree," emphasizing the importance of unity in achieving their ambitious targets.
As the year unfolds, the Church is also mindful of the upcoming election year in Ghana. A call for prayers resonates through the message, seeking divine guidance for a peaceful and prosperous election.
The leadership of the church extended warm wishes for a fruitful New Year to all pastors, their wives, members, and their families, invoking blessings for growth and expansion. The message concluded with a resounding call to "send the light" – a rallying cries for the faithful to spread the message of love and faith to every corner of their communities.
