St. Augustine's College high jumper, Ampiah Gilbert, has earned a spot to represent Ghana at the 2025 Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan International Para Athletics Meeting in Marrakech, Morocco.
Gilbert, who went viral on social media for his stunning performance during training ahead of the inter-schools tournament, is now part of Team Ghana for the 9th edition of the competition.
The teenager will depart Ghana for Morocco on April 20, along with men’s shot put athlete Govina Edmund and Issah Zinabu, who will compete in the women’s category.

Gilbert will go through classification between April 21–23 before being recognized as a para athlete.
He is expected to compete in the men’s high jump and long jump events.
"We have so much trust in him that he will do well," President of the African Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen told JoySports.
The Marrakech 2025 WPA Grand Prix, which begins on April 24, will last for three days.
His performance at the competition will count toward qualification for the next Commonwealth and Paralympic Games.
