Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called on the church to do its bit in helping government revamp the economy.
Speaking at the 175th Anniversary celebration of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, he charged the church to implement socio-economic initiatives that will create jobs and contribute to the country's GDP.
“May we all pull together our collective nationalistic efforts to rebuild our nation and recover from internal and external devastations that have hit our economy very hard.
“May the way forward for the EP Church include rolling out more socio-economic interventions that will create jobs and contribute to the overall GDP of our dear country," he noted.
"Also consider the rolling out of interventions that will create opportunities to develop the human capital of our dear nation, especially the teeming youth who have benefited from free education and are thus in urgent need of work opportunities to contribute their quota to our nation-building quest."
Meanwhile, theologian, Rev. Dr. Setri Nyomi charged members of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church to be fearless in advocating for accountable governance while living righteous lives.
“Can the EP church be that voice that speaks fearlessly? Will the government of the land, whatever the era is, be mature enough to listen to the churches?
“The EP Church should be such that wherever our members are, nobody should see them yielding to mediocrity, corruption or taking bribes. Discipline should be our hallmark,” he noted.
