Latest survey data from Global Info Analytics has revealed that 60% of voters hold Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia partly responsible for the current economic crisis in the country.
According to the findings, respondents believe that Dr. Bawumia, as the leader of the Economic Management Team, has not taken sufficient steps to alleviate the hardships faced by Ghanaians.
However, 34% of Ghanaians argue that Dr. Bawumia, in his capacity as Vice President, cannot shoulder the entire blame, as the ultimate responsibility lies with the President.

Meanwhile, 6% of respondents indicated that they have no opinion on the matter.
Dr. Bawumia's remarks during a public event on Wednesday, January 7, 2024, where he distanced himself from taking full responsibility for the economic crisis, received criticism, especially from the opposition.
“I am like a driver’s mate, But if, by the Grace of God, you make me President, I will be in the driver’s seat with constitutionally mandated authority to pursue my vision and my priorities,” Dr. Bawumia insisted.
Despite this, during the State of the Nation address, President Akufo-Addo reiterated similar sentiments, attempting to absolve his deputy from any blame.
“Under the Constitution, the executive power of the State is vested in the President of the Republic. Ultimately, the President is responsible, and, therefore, takes the credit or the blame for whatever happens in his or her government,” President Akufo Addo said.
