Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has reiterated his commitment to establishing a comprehensive welfare system to ensure that the needs of party members are adequately addressed under his leadership.

As part of his strategy to reward loyal party members, Dr. Bawumia has outlined several measures, including allocating a minimum quota of 10 appointments per constituency in his government, as well as introducing a special welfare system for all grassroots members.

Shedding more light on his welfare plans at the start of his nationwide campaign in Sene East, in the Bono East Region, Dr. Bawumia stated that to effectively address the concerns of all grassroots members, he will first develop a database of polling station and slot bet 200 electoral area coordinators, record their individual concerns, and then take steps to address them through a structured system.

“You need to understand people’s problems before you can help them, and I’ve taken my time to understand the issues facing the grassroots members of our party,” he said.

“The problems of our party members are not the same. Some need loans for their businesses, some need fertilisers for their farms, some need scholarships for their children, and others need medical attention.”

“I want to institute something called the Welfare Database System, with coordinators in all constituencies who will be in charge of managing the welfare database.”

Dr. Bawumia added that, to ensure effective delivery and monitoring, a Presidential Coordinator will be appointed to liaise directly with all constituency coordinators to ensure that concerns captured in the database are addressed.

“Every three months, we will review the database to assess who we have been able to help and who is still outstanding. This will help eliminate bottlenecks and delays in providing timely support to grassroots members who need urgent assistance.”
