Christian Service University College (CSU) has marked its golden jubilee, celebrating five decades of services to education in Ghana.
The anniversary held in Kumasi, under the “CSU@50: Achievements, Challenges, and Prospects,” afforded the institution an opportunity to reflect on its achievements, challenges and discover a roadmap for its future aspirations.
The university in its 50th age is seeking to harness stakeholder support to uplift its infrastructural levels and the standard of students’ lives on campus.
Students, academicians, alumni and guests gathered at the 50th-anniversary grand durbar of the Christian Service University in Kumasi.

The institution started in January, 1974 and received its charter certificate on 17th May, 2024 from His Excellency, President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House now operates with full institutional autonomy and maturity.
The new upgrade has demanded infrastructure improvement to ensure holistic education.
The university is however faced with accommodation challenges, rising utility costs and limited space for future expansion of the institution.
In celebration of the golden jubilee, and dedication to maintaining its legacy of academic excellence the Christian Service University is courting support of stakeholders to support its efforts for improvements.
The university plans to modernize its IT infrastructure; launch an e-learning program to reach students beyond Kumasi.
The university is also embarking on a solar energy project and expanding its landscape with a new health campus on its acquired 11.5-acre property.
Vice-Chancellor of Christian Service University, Prof Samuel Kofi Afrane, explains that the university is committed to maintaining its competitive edge and expanding its impact.
“The expanded E-Learning programme is intended to enable Faculty and students to interact more electronically through the Internet and to offer learning opportunities to potential students in several locations outside Kumasi.
"The Solar Energy Project to be undertaken by a Ghanaian-German Company by the name Ewia Green Investments West Africa Ltd will help reduce the ever-increasing electricity bill of the university.
“We have decided to build a new modern hostel on campus to accommodate more students, an 8-storey hostel with modern facilities to accommodate about 450 students. The University owns an 11.5 acre land at Sabin Akrofuom near Trede on the Kumasi – Obuasi road. Management is thinking of developing the land as our Health campus to accommodate our Health Faculty,” he said.
Prof Samuel Kofi Afrane also added his voice to the concerns of private universities, soliciting more investment in the sector. “Ghana is blessed with over 80 private universities which collectively provide enormous access and opportunities for higher education.
Unfortunately, most of these private universities are not operating at their full capacity. University education in Ghana is highly recognized on the African continent and if we invest in improving our private universities and alongside the public ones, the nation will earn a lot of foreign exchange from this source” he said.
Meanwhile, former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Rev. Aaron Mike Oquaye appreciated the university’s efforts to instill proper values in its students.
“When I was invited here, I asked for documents on the University. I appreciate your motto: “Excellence with Integrity”. Your core value is the Lordship of Jesus Christ our Lord. With this, I humbly associate myself with your impressive list of Alumni including the eminent Rt. Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante.
“The world is suffering today from Western unbridled liberalism. Society is becoming so loose that the animal Kingdom is beckoning them but they do not realize it. When their immoral and unbridled liberalism blows an unhealthy wind which corrupts public morality, aimed at destroying our family values and ultimately mock our God," he said.
